It’s interesting that we’ve always been told to drink eight glasses of water a day whether you are a 300 pound guy or a petite 100 pound lady. When I first heard how much water I really should drink a day, I didn’t think it was possible, but I decided try it out. Once I got into the habit and pattern of drinking the correct amount each day, I started noticing a lot of health benefits. We recommend drinking a third in the morning, the next third in the afternoon, and the last third before 7:00 pm to avoid trips to the bathroom in the night.
Another concern that many people have is that when they start drinking a lot more often they have to run to the bathroom constantly. I have an analogy that I use. If you think of a potted plant that hasn’t been watered for a long time and is bone dry, you have a tendency to want to pour a lot of water into it. When you do that, the water runs straight through and out the bottom. But if you think of a plant that is watered consistently and has moist soil, this soil is able to hold that moisture and utilize it. It’s the same with our bodies! If we have been dehydrated for a long time, the water tends to fly right through us. If we can be consistent drinking the proper amount everyday, the body is then able to start utilizing the water where it needs it most. Stay consistent and take one for your body’s needs!
Recommendation: drink half your body weight in ounces each day
Example: A 200 pound person will need to drink 100 ounces a day
I know that seems like a lot but it’s totally possible!
